Itinerary
Morning: Arrival and Initial Exploration -6:00 AM: Depart from Addis Ababa. The drive to Sanqallee Wildlife Sanctuary takes about 5-6 hours, covering a distance of approximately 304 kilometers along the scenic road from Shashamanne to Arba Minch. -11:00 AM: Arrive at Sanqallee Wildlife Sanctuary. After a brief orientation at the entrance, start your exploration with a guided tour. Your guide will provide insights into the sanctuary's history, flora, and fauna. -11:30 AM: Begin your wildlife tour by driving to areas where you can spot **Swayne's Hartebeest**, Ethiopia’s endemic and endangered antelope. Observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat and learn about the conservation efforts in place to protect them. Late Morning: Wildlife and Birdwatching -12:00 PM: Continue your exploration to spot other notable mammals such as Oribi, Warthog, Bohor Reedbuck, and Cheetah. Keep your camera ready to capture these animals as they graze and move through the sanctuary’s acacia-dotted landscape. -12:30 PM: Spend some time birdwatching. With over 110 bird species in the sanctuary, you may encounter **Marabou Storks, Fish Eagles, and various species of Kingfishers and Weavers**. Your guide will assist in identifying the different bird species.
